Terms of Service

Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or using Kisatietäjä, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

The service is intended only for persons aged 18 or over. By using the service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We may request reasonable information to verify age or eligibility where necessary, especially in connection with prizes.

The service

Kisatietäjä allows registered users to submit score predictions for sports events, participate individually and in teams, view rankings, and, where applicable, compete for prizes. Unless expressly stated otherwise, the service is operated independently and is not endorsed by any sports event organiser, federation, or team.

Accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and keep your email address up to date. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for keeping your login details secure. You may not transfer, sell, or lend your account to another person.

Nicknames, team names, and public rankings

Your nickname, team name, predictions, points, and ranking may be displayed as part of the service. You must not use a nickname or team name that is unlawful, misleading, offensive, defamatory, infringes another person's rights, or impersonates another person or organisation.

Competition rules

Predictions must be submitted before the deadline shown in the service. We may reject, correct, or disqualify entries affected by technical error, manipulation, duplicate accounts, automated submissions, cheating, abuse, or breach of these Terms. Rankings are calculated according to the scoring rules published in the service. We may correct standings if official match results, schedules, or calculation errors require it.

Teams

The team feature is provided to allow users to participate jointly in competitions. We may merge, rename, suspend, or remove teams if this is necessary because of rule violations, misleading names, abuse, or technical reasons.

Prizes and sponsors

If a competition offers a prize:

• the prize, sponsor, eligibility conditions, and any campaign-specific rules will be stated in the service or in a separate prize notice;
• unless expressly stated otherwise, the sponsor is responsible for prize fulfilment and any tax-related handling connected to the prize;
• if you win, we may provide your email address, and only other information if necessary, to the relevant Finnish sponsor so that the sponsor can contact you directly;
• the sponsor may collect any additional information needed to deliver the prize or comply with law under the sponsor's own privacy practices;
• if you do not respond within the stated deadline, if you are not eligible, or if prize delivery fails because of incorrect information, the prize may be forfeited and another winner may be selected.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the relevant prize notice, we are not responsible for the quality, availability, delivery timetable, taxation, or other sponsor-side handling of the prize once the reward process has been handed over to the sponsor.

Prohibited conduct

You must not:

• create multiple accounts to gain an unfair advantage;
• use bots, scripts, scraping, automation, or any non-human method to interact with the service;
• interfere with rankings, scoring logic, deadlines, or security;
• attempt unauthorised access to accounts, data, or systems;
• submit content or names that are unlawful, abusive, misleading, discriminatory, or infringing;
• use the service for spam, commercial promotion, or other unauthorised purposes.

Intellectual property

We own or control the rights in the service, including its software, design, branding, and original content, except for third-party materials and user content. You retain any rights you may have in the content you submit, but you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right to host, store, reproduce, display, and use your nickname, team name, and predictions to operate the service, maintain rankings, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and enforce these Terms.

Suspension, disqualification, and termination

You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account, remove content, or disqualify participation if we reasonably believe that you have breached these Terms, acted fraudulently, created risk for the service or others, or otherwise used the service improperly.

We may also remove accounts after 12 months of inactivity, meaning no login and no prediction activity during that period, subject to any retention required by law or by an ongoing issue.

Availability and changes to the service

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the service, including competitions, features, or prizes, for operational, legal, security, or technical reasons. We will use reasonable efforts to provide notice of material changes where practical.

Disclaimer

The service is provided on an as available basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that any particular competition, feature, or prize will remain available.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under mandatory law.

If a court or authority finds us liable, our liability is limited to the extent permitted by law and to losses that were reasonably foreseeable.

Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to compensate us for losses, costs, and third-party claims arising from your unlawful use of the service, your breach of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights. If you are a consumer, this clause applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer law.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published in the service with a revised effective date. If the changes are material, we will provide reasonable notice. If you continue using the service after the updated Terms take effect, you accept them.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the service shall be handled by the competent courts in Finland, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
